F17 FUNCTIONS & TECHNOLOGY

TECHNOLOGY

Kabuto’s Leading-Edge Technology Delivers Benefit to Safety and Comfort

Kabuto never stacks its focus on developing even better products in the incessant pursuit of leading-edge technologies and materials, including various patented innovations.

Cutting-Edge Shell Moulding

F-17 uses a high-strength composite material shell (A.C.T.-2) that boasts outstanding penetration resistance and shock absorption, and we also used FEM (finite element method) structural analysis to optimise the strength of each part. The helmet’s amazing lightness ensures safety and reduces neck strain, helping riders in all kinds of situations.

A.C.T.-2 Shell Structure

F-17 uses an A.C.T.-2 structure, an evolution of our proven A.C.T. structure. The helmet satisfies the MFJ safety standards—which include strict penetration resistance requirements—at a high level, and its Chin Guard consists of high-strength organic fibre to further strengthen the shell.

Cutting-Edge Aero Form

Kabuto’s Leading-Edge Technology Delivers Benefit to Safety and Comfort

We reduced the air resistance not only at direct course but also when hit by crosswind or checking the rear through the utilisation of our Wake Stabiliser (PAT.NO.4311691), an original aerodynamic device developed by Kabuto using CFD (3D computational fluid dynamic analysis), and the use of a shell with a frontal projected area narrowed down as much as possible. In addition, the helmet’s cutting-edge aero form—which with our Crest Spoiler (PAT. P), a device that greatly contributes to the outstanding aerodynamic performance of F-17 and reduces lift due to riding wind—helps you stay focused in high-speed and other situations.

Crest Spoiler (PAT.P.)

The Crest Spoiler incorporates unconventional design ideas to reduce lift due to riding wind from the front and contribute to the outstanding aerodynamic performance. Its arch shape reduces lift from any angle, and it is optimally sized to have the maximum effect.

Wake Stabiliser (PAT.)

After many years of research and wind tunnel testing, Kabuto’s patented Wake Stabiliser system effectively controls airflow near the shell while riding to reduce strain. Controlling the airflow reduces the lift and air resistance, increasing stability when riding at high speed.

Centre Lock/Double Axis Shield System

F-17 offers improved sealability and quietness due to the use of a new double-axis DAF-R ratchet, quickly replaceable DAF-1R shield, and integrated trim rubber with a new shape. In addition, because the Centre Lock uses a large lever, it can be reliably opened and closed even while wearing gloves.

Top & Side Ventilation

The air conditioning system of F-17 achieves a rectifying effect while also releasing hot air trapped inside the helmet. F-17 uses Side Ventilation intended to efficiently catch the wind even while cornering, thereby introducing the same amount of air as when going straight. Combined with Chin Ventilation—which features an expanded opening area and width—ensuring that fresh air is constantly brought into the helmet.

Just how comfortable can a rider be in severe situations?

Helmets Comprehensively Verified to Be Easy to Put on or Take off While Offering the Highest Possible Comfort in Severe Situations. The interior of the F-17—which we reviewed, starting with the design ideas, including the use of original spatial cognitive technology—got reputation “more comfortable than conventional products” by many supporting riders. By changing from a helmet that fits at certain points to one offering an enveloping fit, F-17 offers the highest possible comfort.

Emergency System (PAT.P.)

In the event of an accident, this original Kabuto structural system enables rescuers to remove the helmet easily, quickly and safely. By pulling out the interior urethane material, the fabric at the cheeks will remain in place, helping to make helmet removal smooth and less stressful for the rider.

MIPS – Safety for helmets

MIPS is designed to help reduce rotational forces to the head during certain angled impacts. In a crash, this low-friction layer allows a small amount of movement inside the helmet, which may help redirect energy away from the brain and provide added protection beyond traditional straight-impact designs.

Fresh Air Control

Newly designed big air inlet that links to the air route inside the shell and suppresses fogging inside the shield and the glasses, also helps easy breathing.

Air Ventilation

The air introduction area has been greatly increased compared to conventional models.
The Rear Ventilation cannot be opened or closed.

DAF Pinlock® Original Insert Lens

This lens helps maintain a balance between the outside temperature and the temperature inside the helmet to reduce shield fogging.

Shield Posts for Racing Tear Offs

The disposable film DAF-1R Racing Tear Off (sold separately) can be attached.

Glasses Friendly

F-17 uses a cheek pad shape that makes it easy to wear glasses or sunglasses.
*Note that your results might vary depending on the shape of your glasses or face.

Intercom Attachment space

F-17 includes exclusive space on the left and right. There’s also a cable route to facilitate neat wiring. Some special shapes cannot be attached.

COOLMAX® & Fully Detachable Interior System

F-17 uses COOLMAX® fabric that feels pleasant. The interior can also be completely removed for washing.

Easy and Comfortable Space Around the Mouth

F-17 has easy and comfortable mouth space, which is also useful for headset microphones.

Wind Shutter No.5

The Wind Shutter can be detached if preferred, and it helps reduce wind around the chin area for a more comfortable ride.

Breath Guard No.10

With the Breath Guard designed with an enlarged air blowing area on the backside of the shield, it contributes to removing fog on the shield.
