A Spanish motorcycle racer from Granollers who rose through the 125cc and 250cc classes after reaching the world stage in 2005. He became a full-time MotoGP rider in 2012, built a reputation for grit and speed across several teams, and then helped transform Aprilia after joining the factory in 2017. His breakthrough came in 2022, when he scored his first MotoGP victory at the Argentine Grand Prix and became a genuine title contender, before adding more wins at Silverstone and Barcelona in 2023. Espargaró retired from full-time Grand Prix racing at the end of 2024, but did not stay away from the paddock for long, joining Honda HRC as a test rider for 2025 and making wildcard appearances as he began the next chapter of his career.
